KidLife Week

This past week Dawson held it's VBS, also known as KidLife Week. I, along with 3 other Moms and 1 amazing high school girl, taught a class of 19 five year olds. This was Logan's class, even though he will not be five for another month plus.
It was so fun to teach Logan and some of our good friends: Gracie and CE. I also loved getting to know so many other precious children. The theme of the week was built around Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". It was so wonderful to hear the kids saying the verse from memory by the end of the week. In addition to our Bible stories we also went to worship every day, where we sang songs in praise to God. The Bee's, our fun characters who lead worship through skits, songs, and verse, provided an incredible atmosphere for the children. The kids also had fun eating snack, playing at recreation, tons of special crafts, and just feeling God's love.
The day before KidLife started we all spent time decorating our rooms. Logan was asked by another class to be their model for their cut out character.

Fun at the zoo

I was getting tired of staying in the house, so decided we would beat the heat at the zoo. I know sounds kind of funny to go outside when it is so hot, high of 100. We left our house about 9:45 am and headed to the zoo. Everyone was wearing their swim suits, well of course I was not. We spent the first 45 minutes playing in the water fountain splash area getting all three boys really wet. Logan has always loved playing here but this was a first for Nathan and Owen. Both of them loved being splashed by the fountains.


I wish I could have taken some pictures of them actually in the water, but I decided to preserve the life of my iphone, and not get it wet. After the water we went to see the lions, tigers and other predators, played at the new little play area at Trails of Africa, said hi to the flamingos and then headed for the car. I know Logan would like to stay longer, but by now it was 12:30 and all of the refreshing water play had dried off and it was getting way too hot to be outside.

18 month check up

Nathan and Owen went to their 18 month check up yesterday. Owen is 23 pounds 4 ounces and Nathan is 19 pounds 2 ounces. The boys are growing so big!!!! Owen is 28 inches long and Nathan is 27 3/4 inches. The boys did very well at their appointment and big brother Logan did very well too. Nathan and Owen love Logan so much so him being along for the ride made the trip more exciting for them. Big news: the boys were cleared to try the nursery this summer!!!! So excited. It will be so great to be able to do both church and Sunday school as a family together. Our sweet friend, Wendy, has been keeping the boys for us every Sunday for Sunday School and Wednesday nights.

T-ball Party

On Tuesday evening, Logan's t-ball team had an end of the year party. The kids enjoyed playing at Homewood Park and eating pizza and ice cream. Each of the children received a balloon and t-ball trophy. The kids all had fun playing together this season. Hopefully Logan will be interested in baseball again next spring.

Fun times

A few weeks ago we took the boys to a vintage car parade in Mountain Brook. The cars were going to race on the Barber Motor Speedway. Logan loved looking at all the cars, climbing trees, and eating his pizza from Jason's deli. The little guys enjoyed the fresh air and time spent outside.


Since the weather is so hot here, we are spending a lot of time at McWane Center. We were there the other day, and were the only people. I could not believe it. I wondered if they were closed, but they weren't. I did ask.

Logan loves stickers. He put lots of stickers on himself. He was so proud and wore some of them to church the next morning.Logan loves helping Preston mow the lawn.

My new picture

A couple of years ago I snapped a picture of Logan sitting at the piano trying to play with Preston's Grandmother, Memommy. I absolutely love this picture and love how Logan is focusing so intently on Memommy. Last year when Memommy was here for a vacation I gave her a copy of the picture and asked her if she would mind painting. Memommy is a great artist. Tonight before dinner she gave Preston and I this painting. I am so excited about it. It just takes my breath away and I can't stop staring at it. I am so excited to have this treasure and I know Logan will really value it too when he gets older.

The last several weeks

I am sorry it has been so long since my last post. The good thing is we have been busy and having a great time together. So you can see all the fun we are having I am going to post lots of pictures with captioning.

Preston is playing in a Dawson Rec Basketball League. Logan, Nathan, Owen and I are a big cheering section for Preston on nights he has early games. Logan made a sign that he loves to hold us and yell, "Go Daddy". During half time Preston lets Logan come out on the the court and shoot some baskets. Logan loves going to Daddy's games.

At the end of April, I traveled to Nashville with Sarah Cook and Julie Hughes to run the Nashville 1/2 Marathon. We had lots of fun that weekend. We are already talking about where we want to go next.

Nathan and Owen did very well when they got their ear tubes. We are noticing an improvement in their hearing. We are so glad everything went so smoothly. They have a follow-up appointment with their ENT on June 3rd and will have a new hearing test on June 9th. We are excited to get a good hearing test at that time, with their cleaned out ears. This will help us determine if Nathan will need to look into cochlear implants or stay with his hearing aids.


Logan's class hosted a wonderful Mother's Day lunch. Each child came to their mother (standing outside the class room) handed them a carnation and invited them to the lunch. Once we were in the class, we sat in each of their seats and they brought some yummy punch. We had Chick-fil-A chicken fingers and fruit for lunch. The kids each drew a picture of their mother and wrote what their Mom did that was special to them. They also made pretty candle holders and their teacher, Ms Traci, made a silhouette of each of them. It was a very special time.

Logan is really enjoying playing t-ball. This week Nathan, Owen and I were there to cheer on Logan. Preston was enjoying watching his students graduate at Samford.

One of Logan's favorite inflatables was this giant slide. He went down it over and over and over.
The four of us enjoyed an afternoon at the zoo. The weather has been so nice we are getting out any chance we can get.
