Thursday afternoon

The Hites are having a great day. Logan had a great day at school and Preston was able to take the morning to get some work done at the library. Nathan and Owen have been great, though they have been sleeping a lot today. When Logan got home from school we went for a long bike ride, to the library. We spent about 45 minutes at the library and then came home. I have not ridden my bike in almost a year, and well I was a little tired when I got back. This afternoon Logan and I, then adding Owen, decided to take some pictures outside. It took a little convincing to get a 3 year old boy to take pictures, but I basically just snapped as he played.
We had lots of fun.
After Preston gave Owen his bath I was able to take him out for a few pictures. We also let Logan hold Owen for the first time. He was so excited.

Nathan

On Saturday afternoon, Preston's Aunt Brenda and cousin Michele were here visiting the boys. Nathan choked on his medicine and stopped breathing. Preston and I gave him CPR while his cousin called 911. We were able to get Nathan breathing again before the paramedics arrived. Once they were here they took Nathan to Brookwood Hospital. Nathan visited with all of his friends in the NICU for 4 days. Nathan is at home now and doing really well. We told Nathan the next time he wanted to visit his NICU friends to just tell us and avoid all the drama :).

pictures of Nathan

Today I was able to take Nathan outside to get some pictures. We had a good time on our mini trip.
Logan came down with strep yesterday. He is feeling much better today. He has done a good job keeping his distance from his brothers.

The boys really enjoy their time on their play mat. They are getting stronger and stronger every day.

Safari Day

Today was Safari Day at Logan's school. I was asked to come and help. I was so excited to be there. Logan had a great time and was equally as excited by my presence. He would wave to me non-stop every time he saw me. It was great and everyone had fun. Here is a picture of his class and him participating in some of the activities.

Lots to update

Things have been going very well and the five of us absolutely love being together. Logan is a wonderful big brother and does not seem to be jealous at all. If either Nathan or Owen are crying he will walk up to them and hold their hand or pat their head and tell them not to cry because he is here. It is so precious. The boys are in the midst of all their follow-up appointments.

Owen went to the retinal specialist last week and his eyes are looking better. He has a follow-up appointment in 3 weeks. He still has a ways to go before his eyes are in really good shape, but they are getting better. He also went and saw a plastic surgeon last week about his palette. The NICU doctors were not sure if he had cleft palette or a big indention in his palette due to the ventilator. His indention is due to the ventilator and will just fill in over time. He will have no speech problems from his indention.

Yesterday Nathan went to the regular pediatric eye doctor and his eyes were looking better. His left eye looks perfect and his right eye is moving in the right direction. Today he also had an appointment with OT at Children's. He will go back next week and get a splint he will need to wear several hours out of the day for his wrist on his right arm. The boys are also being referred to home OT, so we will have someone come to our house once every other week instead of having to take them to the OT office.

Here are a few pictures I thought you would enjoy.

Logan's Day Out with Thomas and Daddy

Blog from Logan:
Thomas in the spot light. My favorite thing was sliding on the castle. I loved riding on Thomas and want to do it again.

Preston and Logan went to the Day Out with Thomas yesterday. They had a great time. Logan loved riding Thomas but also enjoyed everything else to do like playing with the trains, the sandbox, the inflatables, and seeing all the animals.

Logan singing his favorite song

Preston and I were given a rehearsal cd with this song on it. We would play the cd a lot and Logan started asking to hear this song. He then started singing it with us and learned most of the words. He now keeps the song in the dvd player in his room and often asks to go in there to sing it. This is the first song he has ever wanted to learn and sing.

playtime

We are starting to get on a good schedule with playtime, bathtime, etc. The boys were already on a great eating schedule, so we just needed to dccide at what times too add in the other stuff. Nathan was very squirmy and lifted up his head and switch sides very often. Owen was pretty still most of the time but did some moving around at the end when he was upset.Logan is wonderful with his brothers. He was playing with Nathan, holding his hand and making the play gym animals talk to him.
We needed to change the cannula stickers off Owen's face. While we did I got a quick shot of how Owen looks without hic cannula.
