Fun visit with Evan

Evan, our nephew, is visiting his grandparents in Birmingham this week before school starts in Huntsville on Monday. Logan and Evan love playing together and I love for them to have some cousin time. Evan and Logan played just about everything they could in our house and when Nathan and Owen woke up we headed to Chick-Fil-A so they could play in the play land and have a yummy dinner. They had the best time together.

This morning we headed to The Bell Center where Owen got to tryout a power chair. He was a little unsure about the chair at first but once he learned how to use it he really seemed to like it.

August 15th

We are getting used to our new schedule. Logan had a great second day at school. He had music class today, which he really enjoyed. While he was at school Nathan and Owen did lots of playing (aka therapy). The poor boys were pretty warn out.

After picking up Logan from school we had a class party at Heardmont Park. The kids loved playing together, eating pizza and ice cream and taking group pictures. I really enjoyed getting to know the other Moms too!

We celebrated Oma's birthday tonight. It was a fun time and we were glad to spend her special day with her!

First Day of School

Logan had a wonderful first day of school. He was very excited and walked in to his room with confidence. He loves his teacher and made new friends. He is ready to go back today.

His favorite things were the scavenger hunt around the school for the gingerbread man (a way to familiarize the kids with the school), drawing himself and seeing the principals new office on the tour. He had his first homework assignment and did very well doing it and remaining focused. They are memorizing and learning the catechisms every week.

When we first walked in to the school all the kids and the lower school principal were sitting in the lobby having a prayer time for their day. What a great way to start the school day.

Last Day of Summer Vacation

This morning Logan got to meet his teacher at Westminster, Ms Zachow. He was very excited and has been all day.

This afternoon we enjoyed playing cars together as brothers napped. Once they woke up we headed to the Homewood pool. We went after it quit raining and we were the only people there for about 30 minutes. It was great! We ended our day with a dinner of Logan's choice, Chick-fil-a. It sure was yummy!

Stupendous Saturday

After 14 appointments this week we spent some down time together as a family today. We started out the day with fingerprinting, and lots of PT on the floor work (wedge, ball, floor sitting, kneeling, etc). Preston had some time to finish hanging up some pictures and do some yard work. After a yummy lunch and nap we met Preston's brother, sister-in-law and nephew at the pool. We had a great time all swimming together. I also saw my friend and boy's therapist, Jane, and we were able to catch up. We then met Preston's Dad and Donna along with Brain, Jenny and Evan at Nabeells for dinner. Nathan and Owen gobbles up their museca and Logan finished his entire plate too. Logan's new school shows arrived today and he enjoyed trying them on.

Go Fish concert

Tonight Dawson hosted a Go Fish concert. The boys absolutely loved it! Nathan bounced the whole time and Logan danced. Owen had the best time dancing and bouncing with Preston. We sat by the Cooks and Logan and Gracie loved being together. It was a really fun family night!

The transition has begun

Preston and I had our initial transition meeting from Early Intervention to Preschool. Nathan and Owen will begin Hall-Kent in mid-November. In this meeting we signed our official papers to allow the school to begin processing the boys. Hand-in-Hand our EI provider was at the meeting and was able to provide a lot of information and testing scores to the school. I am so glad we have an EI that is so on to of everything. We met the boys teacher and love her. We toured their classroom. It was incredible all the stations, toys, circle time mat, etc. and there is a playground just for preschool. Their class will have 15 students, 6 of whom are role models (typically developed). They also have two aids per class. Because of their birthday being late fall, Nathan and Owen will be in the preschool program for three years. The program is offered 7:30-1:30 five days a week. We will choose a schedule we feel is best for the boys. Our next meeting with the school is Sept 7.

Big thanks to Sarah for watching all the boys while we were at the meeting!
