Fun Friday afternoon/ 6 yr old check-up

Friday afternoon Logan and I spent some time at the park together. We had a great time swinging and playing. It was nice to be just the two of us. After we went to Logan's 6 yr check-up. Everything went well and he is very healthy. He was so excited to not need any shots.

The Bell Center

Nathan and Owen are really enjoying school!! Both boys are doing really well. Owen loves his one-on-one volunteer, Paula, and is talking a lot to her. Owen is doing so well they are making all new, more challenging goals for him. Right now they are having Nathan wear a compression vest in class because it helps him to be able to focus on the activity and not focus quite so much on jumping. It is not that they don't want him to move around but more a feeling of comfort and his brain not constantly firing to his muscles telling them to move. We are enjoying getting to know the other families in the class.

West Homewood Farmer's Market

Just before dinner we decided to head on down to The West Homewood Farmers Market. On the way we stopped at the park for some swinging time. The Farmer's Market was tons of fun with live music, food, arts and crafts, a balloon man and sidewalk chalk. First Logan got a race track but after it popped he went back and got a belt and sword. He was very excited because he was now a Westminster Knight (the school mascot). The weather was beautiful and all five of us had a great time.

Hard at work

Friday morning Nathan and Owen enjoyed some hard work at home. They spent a lot of time in their gait trainers playing with the iPad, computer, barn, puzzles and felt board. They also enjoyed their daily reading of Pete the Cat. The highlight of the morning for me was sitting practice. Nathan sat for 30+ seconds several times. Owen loved sitting and was doing a great job catching himself with his arms. I am so proud of their hard work and progress. I am so thankful to God for the work He is doing in them.

Adoption Yard Sale

Last night we headed to Atlanta to help our friends Jennifer and Michael with their yard sale. Everything for the yard sale was donated by friends! The money they raised is all is going to help pay for their adoption, a little girl from China. Logan had a lemonade stand that also had some homemade baked goodies by Jennifer. Logan was a great salesman very enthusiastically asking everyone to buy. He made $68 dollars towards the adoption. We had a great weekend and were so glad we could participate.

Big Boy Class

Tuesday Nathan and Owen started in a big boy class at The Bell Center. The class is made up of 8 students. Each student has a volunteer worker who works one on one with them. They also have a PT, OT, SLP and Special Ed teacher in their class. Each day they have snack time, circle time and and a variety of individual activities.

They love their class!!!! On Tuesday they walked in (in their gait trainers) and never looked back to say goodbye. I always arrive about 10 minutes early at pick-up and observe them in class and they are actively participating. Today Owen ate some of a cookie at Snack Time!! Here are two pictures from today. Owen is playing with a baby doll and Nathan is playing at the train table.

Michigan

Though the reason for our trip was sad, we had a great time with family and walking around Frankenmuth, the town I lived in for the first 13 years.

Nathan, Owen and Logan LOVED spending time with family! Logan and Lynnea played very well together and were pretty inseparable these past three days. Owen and Nathan loved being held by everyone and Owen took this opportunity to flirt with all the girls!

Preston and I had a nice run together around Frankenmuth Saturday morning. My parents babysat the boys and it was nice to have some time alone. We met several Freis at the Brewery Restaurant for lunch: Aunt Nila, Uncle Bob, Uncle Bruce and Aunt Andrea. It was good to see all of them!

We enjoyed the beautiful weather and spent lots of time in the pool. We also spent some time just walking around Frankenmuth!

We were able to stop by my Grandma Elaine's house and have a nice visit with her before leaving town.
