Giving Tuesday- Hites in India

This Tuesday, December 1 is Giving Tuesday!  We have a suggestion for each of you to consider, whether on Tuesday or any time between now and June:

This summer, the Lord is leading our family to participate in an amazing one-month mission opportunity in Calcutta, India. We will bring 5 of Preston's Samford Interior Architecture recent graduates with us. These students, under the teaching and supervision of Preston, are spending their senior year designing a medical clinic to be built this summer in Calcutta. The clinic will serve the people of two impoverished slum communities who have no means of accessing the government health care system, and will be owned and operated by a ministry that is already established and respected in the communities.

We are so excited for our entire family to be a part of this work. It is a fantastic opportunity for our children to spread the love of Christ in Calcutta while also learning a new culture, language and way of life.  It is also a wonderful opportunity to share the story the Lord has given our family in a powerful new setting.

The trip for 6 to Calcutta for one month is expensive. We are asking our friends and family to prayerfully consider supporting us in this endeavor with a financial gift. Gifts can be made on line through paypal.me/thehites, or sent by check to our house at 856 Delcris Drive, Birmingham, AL 35226.

Thank you for your consideration in supporting our mission project to India.

Thanksgiving

We had a great Thanksgiving break.  Preston left the Thursday before for our break to go on a quick trip to India.  So, Saturday morning I packed the van and we headed to my sisters house for our week off of school.  The kids had so much fun playing together.

Nathan loved to slide, slide and slide some more.  At the park or there house, sliding was in his mind.  His conversations would be:
I want slide please, please, please, please, Mrs Firnberg, please.  Mrs Firnberg is his kindergarten teacher and he likes to talk about her all of the time. He also really enjoyed the cupcakes Aunt Nae Nae had for dessert.  Since he is so thoughtful, he ate one for himself and one for Mrs Mary Jo, his beloved instructional assistant at school.
Nathan loves cupcakes and his nutritionist wants us to pack as many calories as possible.  He is extremely active, nonstop, so he is 6 and weighs about 30 pounds.

Owen loved swinging, jumping on the trampoline, bowling and watching football.  Owen is always happy with every activity!  We loaded some new games on his computer and he enjoyed playing those too.

Logan and Cooper spent just about every waking moment together. Uncle Philip brought home a giant box, which they quickly made a fort out of.

On Uncle Philip's day off, he watched all the boys and the girls went on a shopping trip to Destin.  It was tons of fun!
Karis worked hard to live up to the name on the Coke bottle she selected from the machine.  She definitely spent the week keeping me on my toes.  Even though she is being quite spunking, I am so glad she is doing stuff: playing, hugging, and just starting to act like a kid.

Preston landed in Birmingham Wednesday night.  My parents picked him up from the airport and brought him to my sister's house.

Thanksgiving was lots of fun. The house was full. My cousin and her 3 kids joined us too.
Nathan frosted his cupcake and then ate all the frosting off of it.

A few pics from Thanksgiving at school.  The kindergarten did a parade.
